Community News 11/25/14


Thanksgiving Communion!
We will give thanks for Christ's abundant grace in our lives as we celebrate Communion tonight at 6:30 PM instead of tomorrow night, our usual Midweek Worship night.  Childcare will be provided.  Your BCC team prays you have a blessed Thanksgiving! 

Office Closed!
In observance of Thanksgiving, the church office will be closed on Thursday, November 27th and Friday, November 28th.

Men's Fellowship Breakfast!
The Men's Ministry encourages men of all ages to join them for a hot breakfast and an inspiring message.  The Men's Fellowship Breakfast will be held on Saturday, December 6th at 7:30 AM in the student center.

Missions Offering!
All tithes given on December 7th will fund both local and foreign missions as well as the Lottie Moon Christmas Offering.  Ask the Lord what He would have you to do!

Community Christmas Dinner!
Our annual Christmas dinner is coming up on Wednesday, December 10th at 6:00 PM.  We will provide the meat but ask that you bring a couple of large side dishes.  We hope we will have our church family and community here so we need to make sure we have enough food.  Thanks so much for your heart to give.

Midweek Worship!
Join us tomorrow evening as Pastor Todd will be speaking on Left Behind.  Snacks will begin at 6:00 and worship will start at 6:30 PM.  Switch Middle School Ministry will be held in the student center at 6:30 and the Children's Ministry will begin at 6:30 PM.

Church League Basketball Sign Ups!
Sign up your child or student for church league basketball tomorrow evening at the table in the back of the Worship Center.  The league is open to boys and girls in grades kindergarten through twelfth of any skill level.  

Prayer!
Please remember to pray for the War, West Virginia mission team and the community members. The team will leave this Friday.  Pray God opens up hearts and guides and directs the mission team.  Also, please pray for the children receiving the Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes.

Baptism Coming Up!
The fall baptism is coming up this Sunday, November 16th.  If you have not been baptized, take the next step in your journey and make your faith known as we celebrate the transforming power of Jesus Christ.  If you are interested in being baptized, call the church office at 884-5932.

Operation Christmas Child!
Your shoe box is just the first step to transforming a young life for eternity.  Enjoy packing a shoe box with your family and drop them off in the Worship Center near the Operation Christmas Child table no later than this Sunday, November 16th.

Chauffeur Needed!
A lady in our church needs a ride to Sunday worship every other Sunday.  She is willing to come to first or second worship.  She would need to be picked up from downtown Brevard. If you are able to provide a ride to and from church for her please email chris@brevardcommunity.org.

Community News 11/4/14


Family Movie Night!
Tomorrow at 6:00 PM we will be showing "God's Not Dead" in the Worship Center.  This movie will entertain, educate, and inspire people to explore what they believe.  Childcare will be provided and we will be serving popcorn.  

Don't Forget To Vote!
Registered North Carolina voters may vote at their designated polling place today!  We are privileged to live in a country where we can elect our officials.  As followers of Christ please take this opportunity to vote.

Mission Trip To War, West Virginia!
We are looking for a team of 24 individuals to deliver food boxes and pray with members of the community in War, West Virginia.  The cost is only $40.  If you are interested in going on this mission trip from November 21 to November 23 contact marty@brevardcommunity.org.

Fall Family Festival!
Invite your family and friends to the Fall Family Festival tomorrow night from 5:30 to 8:00 PM.  If you are able we would appreciate your help decorating for this event tomorrow at 10:00 AM.  All vehicles should enter through Welcome Street as the front entrance will be closed.  If you are willing to host a vehicle for trunk or treat please, contact Pastor Todd at 884-5932 or todd@brevardcommunity.org.

Men's Fellowship Breakfast!
Enjoy a home cooked breakfast at 7:30 AM in the student center this Saturday, November 1st.  This will be a morning of hearing God's Word and encouragement from fellow men in the pursuit of God.  Kit Garren will be speaking so you won't want to miss it!

Guest Speaker For Compassion Sunday!
This Sunday former Compassion child Michelle Tolentino will share her amazing story of how she once was an underdog but was rescued from poverty in Jesus' name.  She lived with 17 family members in the slums of the Philippines.  Her father was a drug addict which caused him to abandon the family.  The Compassion Project presented her with her first Bible and God led her to Moody Bible Institute where she received a Masters Degree.  She now runs a ministry that rescues and rehabilitates girls that were once involved in prostitution and sex-trafficking.  Compassion has changed Michelle's life so much that she sponsors two Compassion children herself.  

Cursive Writing Workshop!
The Augustine Literacy Project will be hosting a cursive writing workshop on Saturday, November 15th from 8:30 AM to 3:00 PM in the blue room here at BCC.  Register Sunday at the back of the Worship Center at the sign-up table.  The cost is $25 and this includes a workbook, lunch, and handouts.  Email brevardaugustine@gmail.com for more information.

Fall Back This Sunday!
Set your clocks back an hour this Saturday night and enjoy the extra hour of sleep before joining us Sunday morning for worship.

This Sunday a six-week study on 1 John will begin in the brown house at 8:15 AM.  A sign-up sheet is in the welcome center along with your take-home packets.  For the first meeting on November 2nd, have lesson 1, overview complete and be ready for discussion.  For questions contact sheila_alewine@yahoo.com.

Life Group Leadership Training!
Life group leadership training will be held this Sunday, October 19th directly following second worship in the Worship Center.  Pastor Todd, Alan Perry, and Shannon Compton will share tools to equip your group to establish influence with outsiders for the Kingdom of Christ.  Lunch and childcare will be provided.  RSVP to shannon@brevardcommunity.org by tomorrow.

Men's One-to-One Discipleship Ministry!
Jesus tells us to follow Him, love one another, and make disciples.  Paul tells us to teach faithful men who are able to teach others also.  BCC encourages one-to-one discipleship as a way to share His Word, strengthen our understanding, and grow our faith.  The Bible based material focuses on growing His Kingdom and leading a Christ directed life.  Is God calling you to discipleship?  If you are interested in getting started or want additional information, please contact Ken Tatarzyn at tatarzyn@comporium.net or 577-8247.
