Community News 2/23/16


No Midweek Worship
Tomorrow night will be the Legacy Dinner where we honor those who serve at BCC; therefore, there will be no Midweek Worship. 

Big Stuf
Switch Ministry will be traveling to Panama City, FL this summer to attend Big Stuf Camp.  High School Camp will be from June 20th-June 24th.  The cost is $375.  Middle School Camp will be from June 24th-June 27th.  The cost is $310.  There is a $75 deposit due by March 13th for each trip.  The final payment is due on May 1st.  To find out more or sign-up, please visit the table in the back of the Worship Center on Sunday or email brent@brevardcommunity.org.

Augustine Literacy Project Informational Luncheon
ALP trains and supports volunteer tutors by working to improve the reading, spelling, and writing abilities of low-income students.  Please join us after the second worship in the student center on Sunday, February 28th to learn about this opportunity to serve the children of your community.  A complimentary lunch will be prepared by Chef Scott Adair.  For more information, email brevardaugustine@gmail.com. 

Blood Drive
There will be a blood drive on Monday, February 29th in the blue room from 1:30 to 6:00 PM.  To make an appointment, please call 1-800-733-2676 or email www.redcrossblood.org. 

Midweek Prayer 
Jesus said, "If two of you agree on earth about anything that they may ask, it shall be done for them by My Father who is in heaven." (Matthew 18:19 NASB) Prayer is the backbone of Brevard Community Church.  Starting the first Wednesday in March, we will devoting our Wednesday night worship to prayer.  Please join us as we seek God's face for His guidance for the future of BCC.

Ladies Friday Bible Study
An eight week, video-based study by Lisa Harper called "Believing Jesus: A Journey Through the Book of Acts" will begin on Friday, March 11th from 9:30 to 11:30 AM.  Books are $17.00 and child care will be available.  Sign up this Sunday in the back of the Worship Center.  For more information, email Carissa Sellers at cjsellers@comporium.net.    

Honor and Thanks
Join us as we honor and thank Pastor Todd and Sheila for their dedication to Christ and the church body.  Drop in between 10:00 AM and 12:00 PM on Saturday, March 5th in the Worship Center.  Light refreshments will be provided.

Community News 2/16/16


Question and Answer
As most of you know, Pastor Todd told us that he has completed the work God had called him to do at Brevard Community Church.  His last Sunday will be March 6th.  In an effort to keep you as informed as possible, tomorrow evening at 6:30 PM, Pastor Todd and the elders will be answering your questions.  Please understand we are very early in the process and some of your questions will not have answers at this time.  It is the desire of leadership to keep you as informed as possible as we seek God and He reveals His plan to us.  Please pray daily for our elders, our pastors, and Todd and Sheila.  Snacks will be provided at 6:00 PM and worship will begin at 6:30 PM.  Preschool Ministry, Children's Ministry, and Middle School Ministry will start at 6:30 PM. 

Faith and Reason
Michelle Tepper, a speaker from Ravi Zacharias International Ministries, will be at the Brevard College's Porter Center this Thursday at 7:00 PM.  Michelle will be addressing the question, "How can Christians claim there is only one way to God?"  Brett Best will open with music and the evening will end with a question and answer time.  Admission is free.  

Mom to Mom
Moms of all ages are encouraged to come hear God's Word and encourage each other.  They will meet this Thursday in the blue room from 9:30 to 11:00 AM.  Childcare will be provided.

Mission Trip To Lebanon
On this mission trip we will be working with the group, Heart for Lebanon.  This is a ministry that helps with refugees from Syria and Iraq.  We will be interacting with individuals, helping to distribute goods, working in schools, visiting in their homes, and sharing the love of Christ with the hopeless.  This mission trip will be in the middle of May.  There will be an informational meeting on February 21st at 2:00 PM in the student center for those with interest or questions.  For more information, please contact Liz Fleming at lfleming@phri.com or Alan Perry at alan@brevardcommunity.org.

Life Group Connect
Make plans to attend Life Group Connect tomorrow evening at 6:30 PM.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet individuals in Life Groups and hear Gary Compton's testimony of how Life Groups have brought others closer to Christ.  Snacks will be at 6:00 PM. Worship, Preschool Ministry, Children's Ministry, and Switch Middle School Ministry will begin at 6:30 PM.

Communion
In observing Communion we are remembering that we are a part of the new covenant paid by Christ's life, death and resurrection.  We will partake in Communion during both worships this coming Sunday.  We will reflect on the ultimate sacrifice of love Christ made for us. 

Switch School Small Groups
Switch Ministry will not meet this Sunday evening for Small Groups.  Please take this time to spend with friends and family.

Community News 2/2/16


Family Movie Night
Tomorrow evening we will be showing "War Room" in the Worship Center from 6:00 to 8:00 PM.  Regarding the title of the film, movie director Kendrick says, "We called it 'War Room' because, like the military, we should seek God for the right strategy before going into combat. By combat, I mean daily issues we face in our culture."  This movie will inspire, convict, and move us.  Popcorn will be served.  Childcare will be provided.  The middle school students are encouraged to watch this movie with their family.

Switch Super Bowl Party
Middle and high school students are invited to the Recreation Department this Sunday from 5:00 to 8:00 PM.  Invite your friends to an evening filled with fun, food, and games.

Men's Fellowship Breakfast
Start your morning off right with encouraging words, scripture, and great food.  Men of all ages will meet in the Student Center at 7:30 AM this Saturday.

Life Group Connect
Make plans to attend Life Group Connect on Wednesday, February 10th at 6:30 PM.  This will be a wonderful opportunity to meet individuals in Life Groups and hear testimonies of how Life Groups have brought others closer to Christ. 

Enrichment Activities
Hunter Compton, a boy in our church with unique health issues, cannot attend a full day of school because of those issues.  In order to have a half day schedule he must miss enrichment activities at school such as music and art.  They are looking for someone who can come to their home and offer these kinds of activities a few times a month.  If you would like to help or would like to know more, please contact Renee Compton at 553-4900 or Pastor Chris at 884-5932.
